JUDITH LYNN KEATS
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an interdisciplinary artist in that multi fields of science, anthropology, history, spirituality, nature, and psychology serve to inform my art making, my daily life and my thinking.
Through image making, I am able to express my interpretations of the spiritual and physical realms of existence. Universal and personal archetypal symbols emerge throughout my imagery which serve as the basis of my visual spiritual vocabulary. I draw upon symbolism and abstraction to convey an intimate sense of spirituality to express central themes observed from both the natural world and as sensed in meditative states and visionary experiences.
I place my current work amid the stylistic tradition of modern abstraction and contemporary symbolic and visionary art. I embrace the boldness in contemporary art that supports the artistic freedom to explore multi expressive forms of art.
Paint, ink, graphite and paper give formative voice to my dreams and insights. I mix art materials with the zeal of an alchemist in search of transforming denser earth pigments and materials into images of transcendence and spiritual harmony.
